The Red Lion is located in the heart of West Boldon with a good selection of real ales, bottled beers and lagers. The Red Lion is not only well known for its good beer but has an enviable reputation for its high quality food.
Despite the difficult trading conditions our Christmas Fayre programme for 2009 was again a total success with the restaurant being more or less full all over the whole period.

Join us for Valentines Day where, as usual we get the opportunity to make your evening even more romantic.

A friendly atmosphere along with a wide selection of drinks makes the Red Lion an enjoyable experience for all. During the summer why not relax on our West facing decking area which is packed with colour from the flowers that are carefully looked after all year round.  We are pleased to announce that in the Northumbria in Bloom Awards 2007 we won the Whitley Bay Guardian Trophy. This was awarded  for the best effort for the upkeep of external premises, public houses and hotels.

Its  not just luck that our restaurant has a fantastic reputation. Some of  the best Chef's in the area work here, well known in there own right to keep the food top quality.  The friendly  team who make up the workforce are second to none.  From a lunchtime sandwich to a hearty mixed grill  the Red Lion Inn  offers a level of cuisine as creative as it is pleasing.  Delicious produce from local suppliers from the land and the sea.

In  the restaurant. guests are treated to fine food and wine served in a relaxed atmosphere by a skilled and knowledgeable team dedicated to quality.

Valentines Day
14th February 2010

Join us on this special day for relaxed evening romance and fine food.
It is advisable to book in advance for what is usually a very busy day in particular in the evening.
We look forward to looking after you.

 Bar Area

Behind the bar and in the restaurant you will find a wide range of wines, beers, champagne and fine ales. In addition we have a wide selection of whisky and various other drinks to suit the occasion.

Restaurant

Our conservatory which houses part of the restaurant faces West, where you can enjoy an evening meal whilst watching the sun go down.
Conservatory

Were now rapidly approaching winter and its starting to get darker much earlier.

Several daytime customers have commented on how nice and comfortable it is to be sat in the conservatory having lunch or simply a coffee looking out at the weather whilst in the warmth and comfort of the Red Lion Inn.
Widesceen TV

Tucked away with its own bar area  and away from the restaurant  is a "chill out " meeting place frequented by  local customers and those that pass us on the way home from work.

Join in to the discussions held by the " I could be a football manager" as you look at the sport or news on the widescreen out of the corner of your eye.

A good way to end the day before you continue on your journey home.
